Karnali Yaks secured their place in the second qualifier of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) by defeating Chitwan Rhinos by 21 runs in the eliminator match held at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, today morning. With this win, Karnali Yaks advance to play the Qualifier 2 against the loser of the first qualifier between Janakpur Bolts and Sudurpaschim Royals, scheduled for 1:00 pm today afternoon. The winner of the first qualifier will earn a direct spot in the final.
In today's eliminator, Chitwan Rhinos fell short of chasing the 176-run target set by Karnali Yaks, managing only 154 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Despite a resilient 53-run knock by Ravi Bopara which include three fours, and four sixes in 34 balls, the rest of the batting lineup failed to build significant partnerships. Kushal Malla added 21 runs, while Bipin Rawal contributed 18 runs.
Karnali's bowling unit shone, with Jishan Maqsood claiming three wickets, supported by Sompal Kami and Nandan Yadav, who took two wickets each, and Bipin Sharma, who picked up one. Earlier, Karnali Yaks posted a competitive total of 175 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs after being sent to bat first. Jaykishan Kolsawala top-scored with 53 runs off 39 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes.
