Jos Buttler picked Gujarat Titans's 23-year-old teammate as 'one to watch out for in the future' because of his all-round game and consistency. Gujarat Titans (GT) wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler has been ‘really impressed’ by teammate Sai Sudharsan after watching him bat from close during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. He feels Sudharsan is ‘one to watch out for the future’ because of his ‘amazing’ all-round game and consistency.

Sudharsan and Buttler are the second and third-highest run-scorers so far this season. Sudharsan, while opening the batting with skipper Shubman Gill, has put up 186 runs with two half-centuries in three matches while Buttler has contributed 166 runs with two half-tons as well. Thanks to their consistency, GT has won two of their first three matches in the season and placed fourth in the points table.

“I’ve been really impressed by Sai," Buttler told PTI . “He’s a brilliant player. I knew he was a good player but obviously, when you see guys up close, you get a better look at them and he’s fantastic.

He has got an amazing future ahead. He has been ultra-consistent. He has got an amazing all-round game.

I think he’s one to watch for the future." GT are playing with quite a high-risk tactic this season. They have stacked their top-order with Gill, Sudharsan and Buttler followed by heavy-hitters like Shahrukh Khan, Sherfane Rutherford and Rahul Tewatia, with little to no batting depth.

It has worked well so far despite the criticism and Buttler feels the idea is right too. “It’s kind of a trait of all teams that play well, right? It’s somebody who will bat for a long time..

. if someone does spend time at the crease in T20 cricket, the team they’re playing for generally does well and you get a good score," he said. “We always want to play with freedom and express ourselves.

But being able to do that for a period of time is what is crucial for all teams. It’s always the responsibility of the top three – four to make impactful innings on the game," he added. The Titans will now play the bottom-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday (April 6) followed by Rajasthan Royals on April 9.
