Rumours over MS Dhoni’s retirement from the Indian Premier league has taken the intenet by storm after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) match against Delhi Captials (DC) on Saturday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Dhoni, who is 43-year old has been a part of many retirement speculations in the past but with his recent dip in performance particularly with the bat, many believe this could be his final IPL season with CSK as a player. However, in a podcast conversation with Raj Shamani, Dhoni put all rumours to rest by clarifying his stance on the retirement talk.

In the podcast, Dhoni revealed that he isn’t planning to make a decision about extending his playing career just yet. Once the 18th edition of the IPL wraps up in May, he intends to take the next 10 months to reflect and decide on his future plans for the following year.“Not right now (about retirement).

I’m still playing IPL, and I’ve kept it very simple, I take it one year at a time,” Dhoni said on Raj Shamani’s podcast“I’m 43, by the time I’ll finish this July, I’ll be 44. I’ve 10 months to decide whether I’ve to play one more year. It’s not me who is deciding, it’s the body which tells you whether you can or cannot.

One year at a time. Fully focussed on what needs to be done right now. We will see after that, after 8-10 months,” Dhoni addedSince the beginning of the IPL 2025 season, MS Dhoni has impressed fans with his sharp wicket-keeping skills.

However, it’s his batting that has raised concerns. Despite being dismissed just once in four matches so far, Dhoni has failed to finish any innings convincingly, struggling to make a significant impact with the bat.The post ‘Not right now.
