Pune: NCP (SP) politician and Baramati MP Supriya Sule on Wednesday said it was wrong on her part to blame EVMs till she was in possession of concrete evidence to support the claims of manipulation. "I think it is not right for me to make allegations till I have some concrete evidence in hand. I won four elections with the same EVMs," she told reporters during her visit to Pune on Wednesday.
The Baramati MP, however, said several people and political parties like Biju Janta Dal (BJD) of Odisha and AAP have claimed of possessing data to prove their claims of EVM manipulation. BJD's Amar Patnaik, in a letter to her on Tuesday, shared some data to support their opposition to the EVM use, she said, without elaborating on it. Similarly, Sachin Dodke, NCP (SP) candidate who lost the assembly election from Khadakwasla, was also in possession of some data to support his claim against EVMs, Sule said, adding that AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has also objected to the deletion and addition of a large number of voters between the Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
"The overall atmosphere is disturbing. Whether there is some technical issue or something to do with the voter list, these things cannot be answered without discussion," Sule said. "All these objections are being studied," she added.
She said she requested Yugendra Pawar, who contested against his uncle Ajit Pawar in Baramati, to withdrew his application for vote recounting. "We are already taking up this matter at many other places. If there is anything (related to manipulation), it will come out," she said.
