Director and screenwriter Shafi remains in critical condition. The hit filmmaker was admitted to hospital on January 16th after enduring severe headaches. Shafi is under treatment for cancer.

And now director V C Abhilash’s Facebook post about Shafi is doing the rounds on social media. V C Abhilash: “I want Shafi to get back to full health soon. I have not yearned like this for anyone.

I believe in the 21st century, Malayalees most laughed not for Jagathy, Pisharody or Salim Kumar. It was for Shafi. He made movies that still leave us with side-splitting laughs.

Shafi is a genius who blended the humour of the 90s and served with refined taste a decade later in the 2000s. It was the same Shafi who fine-tuned and chiselled out the real talents in Salim Kumar and Suraj. If not for Shafi and his movies, the decade would have offered just news of terrorism, landslides and other disasters.

Let him get well soon.”.
