STILLWATER, Okla. (KFOR) — The moment many have been waiting for is finally here: The Boys From Oklahoma.The sold-out shows are co-headlined by Cross Canadian Ragweed, who are reuniting after 15 years apart.
They’ll be joined by The Turnpike Troubadours, The Great Divide, Jason Boland & the Stragglers, and Stoney LaRue.Thursday was night one, and over 45,000 fans were expected to fill the stadium, making it one of the largest ticketed events in the state of Oklahoma.It's Cross Canadian Ragweed's first time back together as a group after 15 years, and fans say it's special to see it happen in Stillwater and that it brings back memories of college.
What to know ahead of The Boys From Oklahoma concerts"Now we're all adults and just coming back to see them here, kind of nostalgi,c and it's going to be a good show," said Brooke Pennybacker.Many adults are bringing their children to the show."My son is a freshman here, and I went to school here in the 90s.
I saw these guys at Eskimo Joe's, Willie's, and The Wormy Dog. It is great they are coming back to do this, especially all the money that is going to be raised; our football program needs it," said Rob Whitlock, a fan.Some proceeds from the shows benefit OSU's Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) efforts.
Fans from all over the country made the trip to Stillwater for this concert.Over 250,000 people are expected to be in Stillwater throughout the four days.There are a lot of activities outside the stadium.
The Midway is on the North side of Boone Pickens Stadium and has live music, vendors, drinks, and food. It is open from 12:30 p.m.
to 7 p.m. every day.
The Strip and other areas of town also have events going on.VisitStillwater.org is giving attendees to events a one-stop location on nightlife venues and live music joints, to cozy lodging, must-try restaurants, and unique local attractions.
