Scattered cool-air thunderstorms are expected to continue in the Sierra Wednesday evening. Some cells may produce accumulating hail that could make roads slippery. The Foothills and Valley will remain dry and relatively cool Wednesday night.

Thursday will be dry, brighter and warmer in most Valley spots. Downtown Sacramento will see temperatures back in the 80s Thursday afternoon. Another round of Sierra showers and thunderstorms is expected Thursday.

Rain is most likely to pop up south of Highway 50. An east breeze may push some downpours into the Foothills and eastern San Joaquin Valley by the evening. Friday will be dry, sunny and seasonably warm for all of Northern California.

Temperatures will be back above average this weekend with the potential for triple digit heat in the Valley early next week..
