Lana's Sandwich Kitchen, run by Mrs Lana Karadzic, will operate as a takeaway sandwich bar in Leyburn. North Yorkshire Council granted permission on December 10. The council noted its efforts to work collaboratively with Mrs Karadzic to ensure sustainable development.
Mrs Karadzic sought full planning permission to shift the premises' function from retail to a 'sui generis' class for hot food takeaways. The new menu will feature jacket potatoes, paninis, and breakfast sandwiches. Don’t miss out on our biggest sale of the year. A small kitchen will be installed, along with a display area inside the 22.5 sq m property.
The only external modification planned is the installation of a new shop sign. The shop will be open from 7.30am to 2pm, Monday to Saturday, and will remain closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
For waste management, Mrs Karadzic plans to use Yorewaste services, with a 240-litre bin for waste collection and a separate storage area for recyclable waste. The property, due to its small size, is exempt from biodiversity net gain requirements. The council has laid out certain conditions for approval.
Development must commence within three years, with a deadline set for December 10, 2027. The work must comply with approved plans and drawings, which include location, block, floor, roof, and elevation plans. Operating hours have been restricted to those specified in the proposal to protect the amenities of neighbours.
Any new extraction systems will require prior approval to ensure proper installation and minimise disturbances. The applicant must also register as a food business and meet health, safety, and sanitary requirements..
