NORTH Waghi District Development Authority (DDA) in Jiwaka Province has been given K223,000 to build a Lutheran university in the province. MP for North Waghi Benjamin Mul presented the cheque to the Head Bishop of ELCPNG, Reverend Dr Jack Urame, during the opening of the 19th National Women’s Conference at Banz, North Waghi, on Sunday. Mr Mul said he wanted a new Lutheran university to be built in Banz.

He said his DDA will make available more funds for the university. “This K223,000 cheque is the first money that the DDA is giving to ensure the university gets off the ground,” he said. Mr Mul said they will convert the existing Banz Bible College into a university.

He said the DDA has already allocated K1 million and the presentation is a symbol of partnership to start the work. The MP, who is also a strong Lutheran Church faithful, acknowledged the good work of churches in nation building and wants the church and government partnership to grow stronger to see more changes and transformation..
