The Netflix comedy “ North of North ” has been renewed for Season 2, Variety has learned. The series is a co-production between Netflix and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in partnership with the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN). It originally premiered in Canada on Jan.
7 and on Netflix on April 10. The official logline states, “A young Inuk woman (Anna Lambe) wants to build a new future for herself after a spontaneous — and extremely public — exit from her marriage. But it won’t be easy in a small Arctic town where everybody knows your business.
” Along with Lambe, the cast includes Maika Harper, Braeden Clarke, Jay Ryan, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kelly William, Zorga Qaunaq, Bailey Poching, Nutaaq Doreen Simmonds, Keira Belle Cooper, and Tanya Tagaq. The series was created by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, who both also serve as executive producers. Miranda de Pencier, Anya Adams, Susan Coyne, and Garry Campbell also executive produce.
“When I got the call from Alethea, Stacey and Miranda about ‘North of North’ being renewed for a second season, my heart exploded in the best way possible!” Lambe said. “I’m so excited and overwhelmed with joy, I can’t wait to head back to Ice Cove!” Anya Adams, Aleysa Young, Renuka Jeyapalan, Zoe Leigh Hopkins, and Danis Goulet were directors on Season 1. Writers on the first season included Aglok MacDonald, Coyne, Campbell, Arnaquq-Baril, Kathryn Borel, Jr.
