The council is also looking to engage with third party organisation to provide services intended to provide support for unpaid carers in the area. The local authority has advertised a contract aimed at bringing in organisations capable of giving support to unpaid adult or young carers, in line with its obligations under the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 and Self-Directed Support (Scotland) Act 2013. Two specific areas it has advertised relate to condition specific support for people providing care to people with dementia, while another focuses on people immediately following discharge from hospital.
In both cases the appointed organisation will be expected to help with adult carer support plans, as well as outcome grants and short breaks for carers. Potential contractors can submit bids through the Public Contracts Scotland tendering process and the deadline to apply is October 29. *Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire.
