IT’S the end of the road for the Borders League season. Buckley Runners hosted the final round in Mold on an undulating route of just over five miles. Buckley’s women were winners on the day and that saw them leap from fourth into second place overall behind champions Deeside.
Another strong performance from Buckley’s veteran team saw them win the women’s title too. The men’s team were second on the day and that moved them up to second overall in the league, with the men’s veteran team finishing the season fourth. Individually, Buckley’s Jen Rambaldi clinched the FV35 category title, Gwennan Henstock was second FV45, while there were runner-up spots for Jane Doughton (FV50), Margaret Ludden (FV60) and Sue Ridings (FV65).
On the day, Buckley’s Tracy Rogers was second overall and the first FV35, with Lucie Truett (third) and Jen Rambaldi (fourth and second FV35) also claiming lofty spots. Spencer Jones won the U13 boys’ 1000m walk and javelin, while in the U15 boys’ category, Tomasi Fidow was second in the shot put and Noah Thomas was third in the javelin. Annabelle Jones triumphed in the U17 women’s javelin, ahead of clubmate Isabella Bennett in second, while Robin Frost won the M80 javelin, long jump and high jump..
