They also confirmed the flyers circulating online were not official ICE documents. ICE’s spokesperson pointed out that the fake flyer uses a Customs and Border Protection shoulder patch logo, “but purports to be from Immigration and Customs Enforcement.” VERIFY reviewed public posts and press releases from ICE and they all contain the U.
S. Department of Homeland Security logo. The flyers direct people to a real ICE phone number and online tip form .
But the form specifies it is only for providing information about undocumented individuals suspected of criminal activity, not all undocumented people. And while the form does say ICE can offer payments for some tips at their discretion, it doesn’t guarantee any payments and makes no mention of an amount of $750. VERIFY conducted a reverse image search of the flyer using Google Lens, but no results linked it to an official ICE or government agency website or social media accounts.
A search of ICE’s website for the exact phrases on the flyer yielded no results. This isn’t the first time false claims about ICE offering rewards for tips on undocumented individuals have surfaced. In 2018, during Trump’s first term, Florida’s Citrus County Sheriff’s Office warned about a fraudulent poster with a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) logo, claiming people could earn $100 for tips leading to arrests.
