Prayagraj: Candidates of Review Officer (RO)/Assistant Review Officer (ARO) preliminary examination-2023 will not be allotted examination centres in their home district. The exam is scheduled for July 27. Authorities of the UP Public Service Commission (UPPSC) decided that much like the pattern followed in PCS Pre-2024, all male candidates will be allotted centres outside their respective divisions.

However, to make this easier for female candidates, they will be allotted a centre other than their home district but within their respective division. In earlier examinations, centres were allotted to candidates in their home district. However, after the paper leak case in the RO/ARO preliminary examination-2023 held on Feb 11, 2024, the policy was changed.

The revised policy was adopted during the PCS preliminary examination-2024 held on Dec 22, 2024. A total of 10,76,004 candidates have applied for 411 posts of RO/ARO, which is highest in the history of UPPSC. On Feb 11, 2024, this examination was conducted in 2,387 centres across the state but was cancelled due to a paper leak.

This time, more than 2,000 centres will be required for the preliminary examination. After the process of determining the centres is completed, the commission will start the process of centre allocation. Last time, this examination was held in 58 districts, but this time it will be held in all districts.

In such a situation, the commission and the govt will be making additional arrangements for the security of the question papers. Sources said security measures will be at par with the one taken during the successful conduct of PCS (pre) exam.
