Ludhiana: As the developmental works on the recommendations of the ruling party MLAs are being approved by the civic body, the MC commissioner has instructed the officials not to compromise on the quality of these works. On Friday late evening (Nov 8), a technical advisory committee meeting took place where more development works related with roads and tube wells were discussed and approved. The works that have already been assigned will remain under scanner and the contractors who have obtained tenders by paying higher fees can be suspected of compromising on the quality of development works.

In such a situation, performance of these contractors should be constantly monitored so that in case of any complaint in the future, the image of the MC can be prevented from getting tarnished, the MC chief said. The commissioner also strictly told the officers that in areas where estimates were prepared for reconstruction of roads, photographs of the road concerned should also be taken and attached with them, so that the senior officials could take a decision regarding giving approval or not to the same. The MC has started speeding up development work in the city.

Recently, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had called a meeting of the local MLAs and administrative officials in Delhi. The purpose of the meeting was to brainstorm on the preparations for the possible civic elections. The MLAs argued that the administrative officials had started raising unnecessary objections on the files of development works being done in their areas. At the same time, the officials had argued that as per the instructions of the Punjab govt, they were giving importance to tendering for priority development works as per the availability of funds.
