New Delhi: On the occasion of Good Friday, Delhi will observe a dry day on April 18. Reportedly, all liquor shops across the national capital are expected to remain shut on Friday. According to an official order from the excise department, liquor outlets in the national capital will not operate on Good Friday (April 18).
The dry days for liquor licensees have been declared in accordance with provisions of Rule 52 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, Excise Commissioner Sunny Singh said the order issued earlier in March. The licensees have also been directed to exhibit the order at a conspicuous place on their licensed premises, it added. Schools CollegesAll government schools and colleges will remain closed for the day, in line with the gazetted holiday. Most private schools have also declared a holiday. OfficesWhile government offices will remain shut, the status of private offices may vary, with some choosing to remain closed or allow flexible work hours, depending on internal policies.
Essential ServicesEssential services, including hospitals, emergency medical services, police stations, and fire departments, will remain fully operational to ensure public safety and support. Transport ServicesDelhi Metro services will continue to run as per their regular schedule, with no disruption expected. Similarly, DTC buses and other forms of public transport will operate normally, providing convenience to commuters across the city.
Markets, malls, and restaurants are expected to stay open, although a few Christian-run establishments may remain closed in observance of the solemn occasion.
