No. 4 Nebraska wrestling takes down Campbell and No. 25 North Carolina

No. 4 Nebraska rolled to a pair of road wins at two sites Friday, defeating Campbell 40-6 and No. 25 North Carolina 34-3.

The Huskers won 17 of the 20 matches and 12 of those came with bonus points. Nebraska’s dual with Campbell was slated to take place outdoors on a mat located near home plate of Campbell’s baseball stadium. Campbell won the first two matches, taking a 6-0 lead thanks to Domenic Zaccone, ranked 23rd at 133 pounds, recording a takedown in overtime for a 4-1win over No.



11 Jacob Van Dee. Nebraska’s Brock Hardy followed with a technical fall at 141, but after that match, the rest of the dual took place indoors due to unsafe conditions on the mat. Hardy’s victory was the first of eight straight bonus-point wins for the Huskers.

That included a pin 10 seconds into the 157-pound match by Millard South grad Antrell Taylor. Nebraska then made the hour drive to Chapel Hill to take on the Tar Heels. After splitting the first two matches, Nebraska won the last eight.

One of the dual’s best matches was at 149 where fifth-ranked Ridge Lovett took on No. 6 Lachian McNeil of UNC. Lovett got a takedown late in the first period and added a point in the second on an escape as he defeated McNeil 4-0.

Hardy, Lenny Pinto (174), Camden McDaniel (197) and heavyweight Harley Andrews won both of their matches with bonus points. Nebraska returns to action Nov. 23 at the Navy Classic.
