
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has partnered with the Dubai World Trade Center to host the world’s largest technology fair, GITEX, for the first time in Nigeria. NITDA said that it intended to elevate Nigeria’s tech ecosystems platforms to global relevance and is partnering with the Weatherheads Advertising Group to take advantage of their wide reach and their network to propagate, market, and also promote the Nigeria GITEX event billed to be held in September 2025. The Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, who disclosed this Monday, in Abuja at the Unveiling of Wetherheads Advertising Group as the official partner for NITDA and GITEX Nigeria 2025, stated that the agency is creating a platform to encourage those, who are outside with any form of innovation, knowledge and technologies to invest here in Nigeria to enable the country to elevate and grow its tech ecosystem.
Inuwa observed that GITEX is the largest tech and startup exhibition, bringing together global investors, technology leaders, policymakers, and innovative startups adding that GITEX Nigeria is a unique opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s best tech tale. He said: “We have partnered with the Dubai World Trade Center for over a decade now and each time, we are always going to Dubai but this time around, GITEX is coming to Nigeria, it’s going to be a dual city project. One is going to happen both in Abuja and Lagos.
“We want to see how our ecosystem could leverage what has been done globally as they come to Nigeria and take advantage of that to elevate their startups. Soon, we should be able to have Nigerian tech events being exported as data resources 6coming to Nigeria.” Inuwa who was represented by the Director, Stakeholders Management and Partnerships at NITDA, Dr Aristotle Onumo noted that GITEX Nigeria will spotlight the nation’s tech ecosystem, promoting startups, attracting investment, driving multi-sector growth and economic diversification to a global audience.
The Group Managing Director of Wetherheads Advertising Group, Abiodun Iderawumi, said that the firm has over 31-year track record in marketing and advertising. Iderawumi stated that GITEX is an international brand and working with the NITDA team they can achieve the goals set and ensure real-time monitoring of whatever is happening during the event along the media ecosystem..
