NICOLA Sturgeon’s sister has slammed the BBC after the former First Minister was mocked in the broadcaster’s Hogmanay programming. The parody segment included the comics done up as the political couple sitting in a campervan, a notable element of the ongoing Operation Branchform probe into SNP finances . Part of the ongoing investigation - where both were arrested - led to police officers seizing a £110,000 motorhome discovered at the home of former SNP chief executive Murrell’s mum’s house. Taking to Facebook, Sturgeon’s sister Gillian made it clear she didn’t see the funny side of the series, created by Robert Florence of Burnistoun and Still Game legend Greg Hemphill.
She said: “Shocking what I’ve just watched on the BBC. Responding to the post, a Scottish Tory spokesperson said: “We’re barely into the new year and already we have our first typical anti-BBC rant from a nationalist. Nicola Sturgeon seen for first time since husband charged over embezzlement Disgraced Duke Prince Andrew was also mocked in a sketch where Florence and Hemphill played his Royal bodyguards. Last month, Sturgeon revealed she’s still in the dark about the long-running police probe into the SNP’s finances , insisting she was “getting on with my life as best I can”. She claimed she knew “nothing more” of the investigation - codenamed Operation Branchform - having been arrested more than 18 months ago.
The ex-Nats chief remains under investigation by police in connection with the probe having been questioned by cops on June 11, 2023. That followed the arrest of her husband and the then SNP treasurer Colin Beattie. Mr Murrell was later charged in connection with alleged embezzlement from the SNP in April this year and cops handed over their report into the investigation to the Crown Office in August.
In June last year after her arrest she insisted “beyond doubt” she was “innocent of any wrongdoing”. Asked if she had heard anything further regarding the investigation, the former First Minister said: “I have nothing to add. Nothing to offer you on that.
“I know nothing more than I did back then and I can’t comment on it anyway. “I am just getting on with my life as best I can at the moment.” Read more on the Scottish Sun DEEP FREEZE Exact time SNOW will blanket Scotland amid three-day arctic blast PET FAVOURITE Stunning Scots hotel with spa & award-winning eaterie listed among best in UK A BBC spokesperson said “Queen of the New Year satirises the year in news, sport, pop culture and politics.
