Nicky Katt, ‘Dazed and Confused’ and ‘Boston Public’ Actor, Dies at 54

Nicky Katt, the actor known for his roles in the indie film classic Dazed and Confused and on the ABC series Boston Public , has died. He was 54. Katt’s attorney, John Sloss, confirmed his death to The Hollywood Reporter but did not divulge any details.

Born in South Dakota on May 11, 1970, Katt began as a child actor, appearing on episodes of such TV shows as CHiPs , Father Murphy , Code Red , Herbie, the Love Bug , Voyagers! and Quincy, M.E. He landed one of his most notable roles in Dazed and Confused (1993), where he played Clint Bruno.



The coming-of-age film follows a group of rowdy teenagers in Austin celebrating the last day of high school in 1976. Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey, Parker Posey and Joey Lauren Adams starred in the film as well. Katt also starred as Harry Senate on the first three seasons of David E.

Kelley’s Boston Public from 2000-02. The show followed the lives of 10 faculty members at a high school in Boston as they navigate dealing with trouble-makers, having a personal life and staying sane. The cast also included Loretta Devine, Michael Rapaport, Anthony Heald, Fyvush Finkel, Chi McBride, Sharon Leal, Jeri Ryan, Rashida Jones and Jessalyn Gilsig.

His other credits included Love & War , Friends , A Time to Kill , Batman & Robin , Rules of Engagement , The Guardian , School of Rock , King of the Hill , Monk , Law & Order , Death Proof and The Sitter . His last credited TV role came on the 2018 series Casual. Katt also appeared in 2004 in an off-Broadway production of Woody Allen’s A Second-Hand Memory.
