Nick Knowles admitted he “blindsided” his ex-wife Jessica Rose when he filed for divorce after nine years together. The DIY SOS star had been in a relationship with Jessica for years before they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Rome back in 2012. The couple share a son, seven-year-old Eddie, but after just four years of marriage, Nick filed for divorce.
They had a tumultuous on-again/off-again romance, and during one temporary separation, Nick had a brief affair with Emmerdale star Gemma Oaten, but he returned to Jessica, 34, when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. However, their marriage soon came to an end, and the parted ways for good in 2016, but Nick, 60, has admitted he “regretted” the way their relationship ended. During a candid interview as they were finalising their bitter divorce, the TV presenter said he had “burned some bridges” and they had tried - and failed - to make their marriage work.
“We've tried several times to get back together, but no matter how much you love someone, if you’ve burned some bridges, it's very difficult to rebuild them. I'm at a stage now where, if Jess found somebody who looked after her and made her happy, I'd be happy for her,” he explained. He said he wanted “the best” for his ex-wife, and said he was “hurt” their relationship didn’t work out the way they planned.
“I'll hold my hands up and say I got some things wrong, but I’ll never stop caring for Jessica,” he said. “She's the most beautiful person with the biggest heart and I regret very much some of the things that have happened and the fact we haven't been able to make it work. But it’s time to move on.
” Nick has a history of failed relationships, and his first marriage to ex-wife Gillian ended after he had a two-year affair with a beauty therapist, and fathered another child. He candidly shared the reason he has failed to hold down a wife in an interview back in 2008, as he said his love life was heavily impacted by his busy career. “My relationships have pretty much followed a pattern.
They last six months and start off with me explaining that I work a lot, so will have commitment issues,” he shared. “The women involved agree that that is fine, then after a month I get a phone saying 'This isn't on'. After three months we split up, then get back together.
After five, there's another tussle. At six it's all off,” he mused. The TV star is now engaged to Katie Dadzie, 33, and the couple are set to tie the knot next year.
