Staff at the region's mental health trust have less confidence in the care they can offer than any other in the country. Almost 60pc of employees at the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) said they would not be happy with the standard of care at the beleaguered organisation if their friend or relative needed its support. Results of the annual NHS Staff Survey showed that just 41.
55pc of the participants felt they would be happy for their loved one to receive the level of care it offers. The figure was the lowest of any mental health trust in the country - and is also a decline from the previous year's survey, when it was also the nation's worst score. It comes despite the trust having recently been lifted out of special measures for the first time in more than seven years.
The annual survey was carried out in the autumn, with results published earlier this month. Staff from every individual NHS trust are invited to respond to the survey, with just under half of NSFT's workers - 2,414 staff members, 46pc of the total workforce - taking part. Caroline Donovan, chief executive of NSFT (Image: NSFT) Caroline Donovan, NSFT's chief executive, said: "Our trust has had challenging NHS staff survey results for many years, with this year showing a similar picture.
"We must be open and transparent in discussing these results, which tell us we have a long way to go to enable our staff to work in an engaged and supportive culture, where high standards of care are evident across all our services. "We have a very clear plan in place to enable us to deliver improvements, but the journey we need to take to act on these is in its early stages. "I want to recognise all that our staff and supporters have achieved since the survey closed in November, ranging from significant combined efforts to come out of the national recovery support programme, to welcoming service users and staff to our fantastic new Rivers Centre at Hellesdon.
