NHS Lanarkshire's maternity team has released a Christmas song featuring celebrated singer and broadcaster Michelle McManus. The team of midwives and maternity staff, known for their annual festive tunes, have created "Freezy the Snow Queen" to the melody of "Frosty the Snowman." The song aims to spread festive cheer while reminding expectant parents that the maternity team is always available, even on Christmas Day.
Midwife Judith Smalls, who penned the lyrics, said: "As with our previous Christmas songs, we wanted to create something fun and uplifting to remind parents-to-be that, no matter the season, we are always by their side. "We were also thrilled that Michelle McManus accepted our approach to sing with us this year. "Michelle’s support made the experience even more special.
"We are all very grateful to Michelle for making the time to join us." Michelle McManus, a singer and broadcaster, expressed her delight at being part of the project. She said: "I was absolutely delighted to join NHS Lanarkshire’s maternity team for this wonderful song.
"The midwives and staff at the NHS hold a special place in my heart - they were incredible when they helped deliver my two children. "This is my chance to show my immense gratitude and appreciation for all the NHS staff who work tirelessly to care for us all year round and especially so during the winter months." The video for Freezy the Snow Queen is available on NHS Lanarkshire’s website and social media channels.
It features the maternity team, as well as children born in the maternity unit at University Hospital Wishaw. Cheryl Clark, NHS Lanarkshire director of midwifery, said: "Our maternity team hopes the song not only spreads festive cheer but also reassures expectant parents that they will always receive compassionate and professional care, no matter the time of year. "We are committed to supporting families throughout the year, and this song is a light-hearted way to share that message.
