A non-governmental organisation, Agbonjague Leemon Ikpea Foundation, has offered 50 scholarships to students of the University of Benin and Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. The Chairman and Managing Director of Lee Engineering Group and Allied Companies Ltd, Leemon Ikpea, is the founder. The Executive Director, Difference Irabor, on Monday, said 21 of the scholarships would go to indigent students from UNIBEN, while 29 would go to students of AAU.
He said since the inception of the scholarship award in the 2012/2013 academic session, several beneficiaries had been trained from secondary to tertiary institutions across different states of Nigeria, including artisans. He said the 2023/2024 annual academic session scholarship award covered the different amounts of tuition across various institutions of learning. He said, “The foundation is giving 21 of the scholarships to indigent students from UNIBEN, while the remaining 29 would go to students of AAU, which makes it 50. “Several beneficiaries have been trained from secondary to tertiary institutions across different states of Nigeria, including artisans, since the inception of the scheme in the 2023/2024 academic session.” Some beneficiaries, Idialu Marvelous and Longe Greatness, who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the founder for putting smiles on the faces of the needy.
Parents and guardians of the beneficiaries also appreciated the foundation for the gestures..
