Cowboys vs. Browns The Cowboys enjoyed another productive regular season last year at 12-5. Dallas then flamed out of the playoffs with an early 48-32 loss at home to Green Bay.

Cleveland is again expected to field one of the NFL's best defenses. DE Myles Garrett is one of the best players in the NFL, and the Browns gave up the second-fewest passing yards per game (171.1) last season.

Only the Jets were better. TSN's Vinnie Iyer notes the Dallas defense "will slip a bit with a few key personnel losses and no more Dan Quinn calling plays, and it got hit with the extra blow of top cornerback DaRon Bland going on the shelf with a foot injury." In his Week 1 picks , Iyer likes the Browns to win 20-17, offering the slightest of leans when laying -2.

5 and the UNDER. He writes, "The Browns' defense flexed last season with Myles Garrett, and it will go to work on a reworked Cowboys' offensive line protecting Dak Prescott. This promising passing affair between Prescott and Deshaun Watson becomes a low-scoring, mistake-filled grinder, which favors the home team.

" TSN's Tony Mejia agrees on playing the UNDER here. Mejia writes, "Given the presence of elite defensive players like Myles Garrett and Micah Parsons and talented coordinators in former head coaches Mike Zimmer and Jim Schwartz, this has the feel of a game where both offenses will tread lightly and carefully." Panthers vs.

Saints Iyer and Mejia are also in agreement on the Saints taking care of business in this NFC South clash. Mejia notes that New Orleans head coach Dennis Allen "faces a make-or-break season, so if his team fails to dominate a Panthers team that went 2-15 last season and is operating under a first-time HC in Dave Canales, there’s a chance he’ll be unemployed by mid-October." His verdict? Lay the points.

For his part, Iyer picks the Saints to win 24-17 and cover ATS. Rams vs. Lions This is a rematch of last year's playoff thriller, which saw Detroit eke past L.

A., 24-23. It marked Detroit's first playoff win in more than three decades.

Mejia writes, "Jared Goff ran out the clock on any Matthew Stafford comeback aspirations in January’s 24-23 wild card win and again is expected to have the upper hand at home, but keep in mind that the Rams will have WR Cooper Kupp back in the mix and are beginning their run without retired star DT Aaron Donald, weakening their defense." Iyer has Detroit winning and covering ATS, 27-23, in another back and-and-forth-affair. He writes, "The Lions will roll out a familiar balanced and explosive offense with Jared Goff, getting a little more punch from Aidan Hutchinson and the defense to shut the door late.
