The Pittsburgh Steelers could have a quarterback decision to make once Russell Wilson is healthy, as the team has won its first two games with Justin Fields and might stick with him if the winning continues. Knowing that, ESPN's Dan Graziano believes there's a chance the Steelers would trade Wilson if he doesn't get the job once he's cleared. In the event that happens, Graziano thinks the Miami Dolphins could be a potential landing spot for Wilson.
Of course, the Dolphins could be in the market for a quarterback at some point, as the status of Tua Tagovailoa remains up in the air after his latest concussion and nobody else on the Dolphins' roster is guaranteed to get the job done. OK, here's one with potential instant impact. Wilson ( calf ) is too hurt to play right now, and by the time he's healthy, there's a non-zero chance Justin Fields will have secured the starting job in Pittsburgh full time.
If that happens, would the Steelers move Wilson to a desperate team with an injured QB looking to save its season? Wilson has a no-trade clause, which means he'd get to pick his spot (or be released) in this hypothetical scenario. And it has been several years since he has shown anything that would make a team want to trade for him. But if someone became desperate, a move could be in play.
Potential landing spot: Miami Dolphins . Again, if they stay in contention and find out Tagovailoa isn't coming back this season, the Dolphins will be looking for signal-caller options. The Raiders or any contender that suffers an unforeseen injury to its starter in October probably would poke around on Wilson, too.
The only way the Steelers would even consider trading Wilson is if they are fully convinced Fields is the better option moving forward. Despite the two wins, Fields likely hasn't done enough for Pittsburgh to make that determination. Even if the Steelers keep rolling Fields out there once Wilson is healthy enough to play, the team is far more likely than not to hold on to the veteran signal-caller just in case Fields falters, which makes it highly unlikely he'll be an option for Miami.
