The New York Giants have endured nothing short of a disastrous season, and it could lead to another regime change. After an embarrassing 34-7 loss against the Atlanta Falcons on the road in Week 16, the Giants found themselves in the loss column for the 10th consecutive game. It's the first time in franchise history — a span of 100 years — that the Giants have lost 10 consecutive games.
In the third year of this regime with Brian Daboll at the helm as head coach, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports can't imagine the Giants retaining the 49-year-old. "It's almost impossible to imagine Giants co-owner John Mara justifying another season of Brian Daboll at this point. It's not just that they're 2-13 and have lost 10 straight games.
Daboll earned the job three years ago because he was considered a brilliant offensive coach. But his offense has become completely dysfunctional," Vacchiano wrote. Owner John Mara has said throughout the season that he wants to avoid the constant cycle of firing and hiring new regimes every two or three seasons.
However, it's difficult to justify bringing him back considering the direction the franchise is heading. After surprisingly making the playoffs in 2022, the Giants signed Daniel Jones to a $160 million extension. One season and a half later, Jones was released.
The Giants roster has gotten worse every season that he and general manager Joe Schoen have been in charge. They aren't a competitive team in the slightest, and Daboll's offense is averaging 14.3 points per game and just 11.
8 points in five games since the bye week. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next two weeks leading into the offseason, but it's difficult to imagine a hotter seat than Daboll's right now..
