It was a horror night on prime time for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who lost their two starting wide receivers in Chris Godwin and Mike Evans to injury in a 41-31 loss to the high-flying Baltimore Ravens. Two-time MVP Lamar Jackson and star running back Derrick Henry powered the Ravens to their fifth-straight win, with Jackson throwing for five touchdown passes. But the story of the night was the dual injury blow that Tampa Bay suffered, with Godwin carted off late in the fourth quarter with a suspected leg injury while Evans picked up a hamstring injury in the first half.

Godwin was in immediate discomfort after he was tackled with 53 seconds left, which occurred after a catch he made in the middle of the field in an unlikely last ditch Bucs comeback attempt. After being treated for a few minutes on the ground, Godwin was carted off, seemingly favouring his lower leg. Earlier in the game, Evans was clutching his right hamstring after attempting to make a touchdown catch.

Not long after catching his 100th career touchdown pass, Evans would have to leave the game, although he was able to walk off without assistance. For the Ravens, it was their best offensive performance of the season, with both the running and passing game humming. Jackson didn’t turn the ball over once when throwing for nearly 300 yards and five touchdowns, while Henry has once again added merit to the argument he’s been the free agent pick-up of the off-season, accounting for 182 yards and scoring a touchdown.

The win moves the Ravens’ to 5-2 – the same record as fellow AFC heavyweights Buffalo and Houston. The Bucs are still on top of the NFC South despite the loss, and while there was plenty of positives on offence to put up 31 points, the injury blow certainly puts a dent in their Super Bowl hopes. In the other Monday Night Football game, the Arizona Cardinals ended a losing streak with a walk-off field goal to sink the LA Chargers 17-15.
