Tension flared between the Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, and his colleague Member of Parliament for Assin South, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, during a panel discussion on Metro TV on Friday, April 4, 2025. The show began on a peaceful note but escalated into a heated exchange when the two lawmakers discussed allegations made by the Assin South MP regarding two suspicious flights that landed at Kotoka International Airport in March and departed for Gran Canaria, Spain, on March 25. The Assin South MP maintained that his intelligence indicated the flights—an air ambulance and a private jet—might have been involved in drug trafficking or money laundering.

However, the South Dayi MP dismissed these claims as baseless. The exchanges intensified, leading the South Dayi MP to express his frustration to the host of the show: “Next time, don’t pair me with a rude and unruly reverend father like him. Don’t pair me with him.

.. no, no, don’t pair me with him.

” The show host swiftly interjected, stating that the comments were unfair and amounted to a personal attack on Reverend Ntim Fordjour. The South Dayi MP responded: “You can actually scandalize a government and think that you should be allowed to go scot-free? He won’t take any admonishment from you; he kept interrupting me. There are ethics on this program.

If he cannot stand and operate by the ethics, he shouldn’t appear on the program.” Following continued protests from the host, the South Dayi MP withdrew his comments. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor further criticized the Assin South lawmaker, stating that he had his facts wrong: “His geography is so poor that he does not know that the Canary Islands are off the coast of Morocco.

There is only maritime water serving as a boundary between Las Palmas and Casablanca. So, if a plane lifts off from Las Palmas and lands in Casablanca, he has a problem.” The MP for Assin South, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, who is also the Minority’s Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee, had earlier claimed at a press conference that the flights—an air ambulance and a private jet—might have been involved in drug trafficking or money laundering.

He alleged that one of the aircraft, Air MED flight L823 AM, landed in Ghana on March 20 and remained for five days without any record of transporting a patient. These allegations prompted President John Mahama to order security agencies to “immediately and fully collaborate with the honourable Member of Parliament so he provides all necessary information to investigate the allegations and take all action necessary to expose any drug dealing.” KA Meanwhile, watch GhanaWeb’s tour of Fort Victoria and the Cape Coast Lighthouse below:.
