Newman Regional Health welcomes first baby of 2025

Kollyns Kyle Couch became the first baby of Emporia born in 2025 when she arrived at 10:14 a.m. at Newman Regional.

Kollyns was born to Noah Couch and Aydin Deeter and weighed 6 pounds, 6.7 ounces at birth, with a height of 19 inches. Kollyns is Noah and Deeter’s first child, and Deeter described Kollyn’s birth as a blessing and wonderful way to start the year.



To Noah, Kollyns’ birth had sunk in, but also had not. Deeter said, “It is definitely interesting and definitely a new beginning, but I can't wait for the mountains and everything to come.” Noah and Deeter picked the name Kollyns because they originally thought they were expecting a boy and had settled on the name Kolter.

The parents pivoted to Kollyns to still be able to use a “K” in their child’s name. Deeter came in to be induced at 36 weeks and received an emergency c-section Wednesday morning. “Things took a turn, but the baby ended up healthy and I ended up healthy and everything's been good since,” Deeter said.
