The Newcastle Christmas market is now in full swing as December approaches and we gear up for the most wonderful time of the year. Crowds have already been busy shopping for gifts and tucking into an array of food and drink offerings available at the stalls laid out around the Monument, the top of Grey Street, Grainger Street and exploring the new Christmas Village for 2024 taking over Old Eldon Square. And with the addition of five new stalls added this Saturday - customers will have even more choice of festive gift ideas available - including ethically-sourced souvenirs from For the Love of the North or clothing, stationary and decorations from the Great North Children's hospital.
So ChronicleLive took a look around the markets to see what gifts you could get for £20. Romanticise, specialising in stainless steel jewellery, has a wide range of floral, gold and silver earrings on offer. Starting from £5 - £10, which would make for a perfect stocking filler.
What's more the stall is running a limited time Christmas offer of three for two on all mix and match. For those looking for a beautifully unique gift - real dried flower earrings - hearts, butterfly or crescent moon shaped earrings filled with baby's breath, forget me not and daisy flowers - are also on offer for just £17. When it comes to homely gifts, Katherine's Florist has a range of festive plants starting from £4, and handmade acorn and berry wreathes from £8-£18.
While over at the Festival stall, the magical paper star lights at £15 each would make a beautiful addition colour any space. If you weren't already in a festival mood, stepping into the Scents of Christmas stall will defiantly change that. As the name will suggest, the whole stall smells festive - spiced orange, cinnamon and pine.
Both the Orange slice tree decorations and the Cone tree decorations are only £5 each. Whilst the Orange garland complete with star or heart ornament is only £12. Eco Stall, selling environmentally friendly natural cosmetics, boasts a range of stocking filler products all for under £10, including the likes of haircare products, lip-balm, bath salts and soy candles.
Multi-award-winning face and body soaps including 'wild meadow', 'naked oats', and limited edition 'zen spa', are priced at £8.50 for a 140g handmade bar. Shoppers can also try the range of natural deodorants in a range of scents such as 'mint and tea tree' and 'orange and neroli' at just £7.
99 each. If you're on the hunt for a sweet tooth gift, Chocolate kisses is offering a selection of 12 of the popular German chocolate sweet for £18. Priced at £2 each the range of flavours include rum and raisin, peppermint, coconut as well as the traditional white and milk chocolate.
Botanical Beauties is selling a unique gift - Japanese Herbarium bottles - containing dry arranged flowers dyed in a range of beautiful and vivid colours. The unique 'eternal gift' can be purchased for only £6 each for a small bottle, or 2 for £10, whilst large flasks are £20. Blaydon based Firebrick brewery, a trader that regularly sets up stall in the Grainger Market, is this year selling a fun 'mystery can' for those stuck for ideas to buy their Secret Santa.
Customers can pick a mystery 440ml can based on the tasting notes of the 14 different beers for only £4, and add in a glass to for £5. The stall also sells mix and match gift boxes for just over £20 too. And always a popular gift for for the cold Christmas season, The Winter Accessories Cabin has a cosy and stylish selection of wool bobble hats from £15, scarves for £20 and gloves from £8.
