It probably wasn't realistic to expect New York Jets ' quarterback Aaron Rodgers to perform like the four-time NFL MVP that he was in Green Bay . He's coming off an Achilles tear and will turn 41 years old before the end of the season. Still, no one could have pictured this.

Losing to the lowly New England Patriots in excruciating fashion, the Jets fell to 2-6 overall and their playoff hopes are as bleak as they've been over the course of the franchise's 14-year postseason drought. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich looks to be in over his head as the team seemingly finds a new way to lose each week. Meanwhile, Rodgers is averaging 6.

7 yards per pass — the 25th best mark amongst NFL starting signal callers. What has transpired over the season's first eight weeks has deflated Jets' fans and baffled outside observers. For one, New York radio host Mike Francesa sounded bewildered on his Week 8 postgame reaction podcast .

"That isn't Aaron Rodgers. It's somebody else in that body. This has all been another bad trick," said Francesa.

On his BetRivers-sponsored show, the legendary sports talk icon went as far to accuse the Jets of breaking Rodgers. They could ruin any player.

I didn't think you could ruin Aaron Rodgers. They have. They've turned him into a bum," said Francesa.

Although "bum" may be too strong of a word, Rodgers certainly doesn't look like the guy the Jets needed. As a result, there appear to be dark days ahead at 1 Jets Drive.
