New Yorkers with a taste for nostalgia are in for a treat as Chef Driven Hospitality launches the Forgotten Foods Festival. This culinary event, running from tomorrow through April 6, will feature a series of revived dishes across 16 restaurants. Each establishment within the hospitality group's portfolio is set to re-introduce meals that have slipped through the cracks of time, according to details shared by Time Out New York .

With each restaurant interpreting the theme of “forgotten” in their own way, the festival promises a varied culinary journey. At French Roast, recipes are being pulled straight from the decadence of Louis XIV's court, with dishes guided by the esteemed Auguste Escoffier's techniques. Hell's Kitchen's Nizza is taking patrons back centuries to savor creations echoing the historic Genoa-Nice connection, including Apicius' ancient Roman recipes.

The aim of the festival, as Chef Driven Hospitality partner Leir Oren expressed, “Our chefs and their teams have reached into their memories for dishes from their past that truly spoke to them, each infused with the spirit of the restaurant’s cuisine. We are excited for our guests to experience this nostalgic journey through food and drink,” in a statement obtained by amNewYork . The festival is not just reviving main courses but is taking a deep dive into retro cocktails and wines as well.

Beverage Director Aviram Turgeman has curated a drink menu featuring previously popular items such as the ‘90s Apple Martini and an absinthe-rinsed Sazerac. Reflecting on the wine selection, Turgeman told amNewYork , "You really don’t find these wines, or the grapes they are produced with, anywhere outside of their French regions of origin." For anyone looking to indulge in these historic flavors, the list of participating restaurants includes local favorites like 5 Napkin Burger, Acadia, and the Israeli-Mediterranean hub Acadia, among others.

Complete menus have been made available for both lunch and dinner, ensuring ample opportunity to experience these culinary blasts from the past. Interested patrons can check out the full list of menus and participating restaurants through the Time Out New York website for a full-on nostalgic dining experience that harkens back to days gone by..
