New Year shenanigans!
DO you believe in New Year rituals? I'm sure you have seen at least one of your favorite celebrities or influencers eat 12 pieces of grapes under a table at the stroke of midnight on Jan. 1 while scrolling through your feeds. Let me guess, Kathryn Bernardo in a polka-dot top perhaps? Or Mimiyuuuh praying over her grapes? By the way, use the plural form of nouns in saying "one of" like case in point, "one of your favorite celebrities or influencers." Some people would tend to use the singular form probably because they focus on the word "one" too much and not realize that what they mean is one of many. Anyway, going back to my point, I would say, I'm more religious than superstitious, but there are things that slip through the cracks so to speak, and that includes jumping for joy as high as I can with coins that jangle whether in my pockets or in a can on New Year's. I have always felt it was an auspicious way of greeting the new year, and I just could never do without it. My mother, who's 10 times more religious than me, would then almost shove 12 pieces of grapes in our mouths a few seconds later, making sure we ingested not less than what was prescribed. "Mi, ang bato! I mean, ang grapes!" Darna would be so proud!
