This is the second meeting between the two sides this season with the Dolphins coming out on top last time out. Charlie Davis’ first half goal was enough to ensure all three points for Steve Tully’s side in August at The BlackGold Stadium. Wimborne Town currently sit in 16th position, one place ahead of Poole, albeit both sides are on the same number of points.

The Magpies come off the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Gloucester City. Captain Sam Jackson scored a 94th minute equaliser to clinch a point at the death for Wimborne. Poole Town also come off the back of a thrilling draw as they secured a point against 2nd placed AFC Totton.

Tom Hewlett opened the scoring for the Dolphins, but the Stags fought back twice through a Tony Lee brace as it finished 2-2 at The Snows Stadium. The Dolphins are winless in seven and will be looking to turn the tide on Wednesday at the Wyatt Homes Stadium. Looking ahead to the match, Poole will be without goalkeeper Cam Plain due to his three-match suspension and Antonio Diaz is still struggling with injury.

Matty Burrows looks set to miss out on Derby Day for Wimborne due to injury, but Will Fletcher is expected to return to the starting lineup after dropping to the bench against Gloucester. Wimborne striker Toby Holmes is set to face his old side for the first time since departing The BlackGold Stadium in November. In the last five meetings between the two sides in a league fixture, Poole have come out on top on four occasions.

The most notable game in recent years was in 2022, as Poole won 4-2 at New Cuthbury in a game which had six goals and two red cards. Poole manager Steve Tully shared his thoughts in build up to the match, he said: “It’s a derby game, it adds a little bit more spice with Toby Holmes going there too.” He added: “It’s another three points that we’ve got to try and go and get, but the group are getting better and better every week.

“We’ve had a tough month, with a lot of results that didn’t go our way, but we’ll only get better.” Wimborne manager Tim Sills looks ahead to the match, he said: “It’ll be keenly contested, I’m sure it’ll be another great crowd here.” He added: “These are the sort of games we were really looking forward to when we came up and we’ll prepare the boys as well as we can.
