New wildfire confirmed in Sault region, near Five Star Lake

Local fire is on the south shore of the Mississagi River, six km west of Five Star Lake

New wildfires have been confirmed in Sault Ste. Marie and North Bay. Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services said Sault Ste.

Marie 13 is located on the south shore of the Mississagi River, six km west of Five Star Lake. This fire is 0.1 hectares and is not under control.



It was actually confirmed late Thursday after that day's report had gone out. North Bay 18, confirmed today, is 0.2 km south of Rib Lake and 1.

5 km east of Highway 11. This fire is 0.1 hectares in size and is not under control.

Kirkland Lake 006, like the fire in the Sault, was verified late Thursday. It was located 0.4 km northeast of Rawleigh Lake, but is now out.

Fire of note: The fire hazard is low to moderate across the Northeast Region.
