GaadiWaadi -First new Model Y prototype hits the roads for local testing, in what can be considered the most crucial Tesla India launch developments in the recent monthsTesla has started testing the new Model Y (codename: Juniper) in India. As expected, the American EV maker seems to be planning to enter India with its most popular model worldwide. The new Model Y is the most optimal choice for Tesla’s inaugural product in our market.
The Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck are left-hand drive-only, plus they would be way too expensive to make any significant impact in terms of volumes.Moreover, the Cybertruck would be an extremely niche product for our market. The only other Tesla currently in production is the Model 3, but Tesla makes its right-hand drive version only in China, and importing the first model from there could hamper its relations with the government.
The new Tesla Model Y is visibly more stylish compared to the previous model and a substantially more refined product. Split headlights and a sporty front bumper give it a more confident look, while a new, indirectly-lit tail lamp stretches across the width and elevates sophistication. Another revision that gives it a more upscale appearance is a discreet block-lettered branding at the back on the reflective surface in the tail lamp area.

Moreover, the Model Y now features ventilated fronts and power-folding and reclining rear seats for more comfort.Convenience is up, too, with the rear seats now being foldable via buttons in the trunk and the front passenger seat’s backrest being adjustable via a new 8.
0-inch rear touchscreen, which allows you to stream music and videos and play games as well. The front touchscreen is also new, with a 0.4-inch bigger footprint.

The base variant hits 0 to 100 km/h in 5.
9 seconds, the mid-tier variant in 5.6 seconds, and the top-end variant in 4.8 seconds.
They have a range of 500 km, 622 km, and 568 km, respectively, as per Europe’s WLTP. All three variants can achieve a top speed of 201 km/h. The new Tesla Model Y will likely go on sale in India in September or October.
