New tenants are set to move into the site of a Brighton gym which was forced to close suddenly. Fitness First on Queen’s Road near Brighton railway station shut on January 28 after talks with the landlord hit a dead end. Now, signage by Flude Property Consultants has appeared on the property.

It states that the space is under offer. The former gym is listed online as being suitable for a number of uses including leisure, recreation, retail, office, and medical facilities. The gym described the situation as a ‘difficult decision’ and ‘one that had not been made lightly’. Members were offered refund for membership fees or upfront payments and advised to collect any belongings from the site. Members shared their disappointment and branded the closure as a 'massive loss'.

A spokesperson from Fitness First said at the time: “We are disappointed that Fitness First Brighton will permanently close its doors on Tuesday 28th January, despite the company’s best efforts to work with the landlord to keep the club open. This was a very difficult decision, and one that has not been made lightly. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond our control have left us no other option.

Over the years, Fitness First Brighton has been a hub for health, wellness, and community, and we are deeply grateful for the loyalty and support our customers have shown us throughout this journey.”.
