Nalgonda: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced plans to establish new electricity sub-stations in Nalgonda district to meet the rising demand for electricity anticipated during the summer months. Speaking at the inauguration of a 33/11 KV sub-station at the Nalgonda town beat market, constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore, the minister highlighted the surge in electricity usage during summer as residents rely more on air conditioners, coolers, and fans to cope with the heat. The minister noted that electricity demand in Narketpally and Narekal mandals would also rise significantly after the Brahmana Vellamla project is filled with water.
Farmers in the region are expected to use borewells for irrigation, as groundwater levels improve. He directed Transco officials to establish new sub-stations in these areas to address the growing electricity requirements. Additionally, the minister suggested setting up sub-stations in key locations such as Devarakonda Road, Munugode Road, Panagal, Savakar Nagar, and Shivaji Nagar to ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply in Nalgonda town.
Komatireddy also emphasised the government’s commitment to the development of Nalgonda town, revealing that Rs 500 crore was sanctioned for projects over the past year. These include initiatives to improve drinking water supply, underground drainage systems, and cement concrete (CC) road works. As part of the water supply project, 11 overhead tanks, each with a capacity of 11 lakh litres, are being constructed to ensure every household has access to drinking water.
The minister informed that tenders for underground drainage works would be called within a week. District collector Ila Tripathi assured that measures would be taken to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply to residents during the summer months, addressing a key concern for the district..
