More than 40 new container units and a new building could be set to be built over vacant land at a junction. If approved the plans will see as many as 46 container units with a single-story building created on land east of the junction of Stoneclough Road and Bolton Road in Kearsley. The containers are expected to be used for storage and distribution with building to take place over what has been classed as vacant land.
Cllr Debbie Newall, of Kearsley, said: “The planning process is this, this application will be allocated to an officer, who will ask for reports from all the relevant departments before completing a full report with a recommendation to approve or refuse.” She added: “A refusal can be appealed by the applicant, but approval cannot be appealed by objectors. Plans have been lodged for 46 container units (Image: CVA) “The application will only be heard at committee if requested by a councillor on relevant grounds or if there are a large number of valid objections.
“Any objections must be for a "material consideration", that is, a reason that this acceptable in planning law.” Cllr Newall said that as a member of Bolton Council ’s planning committee she was not able to comment either in favour or in opposition to the bid unless it is debated at town hall. But she said that until then she would be willing to advise people on the planning process and could direct people to more information about the Stoneclough Road plans.
The application to build the the new containers and single storey building was received by Bolton Council on Tuesday February 4 this year and validated on Friday March 14. The authority’s highways and engineering department has said the proposal will benefit from a highway access point at Fishwick Industrial Estate. But highways officials said they did not have enough information to comment fully on the plan.

” Bolton Council will aim to decide whether or not to approve the bid by Friday, May 9 this year..
