Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy Unpacked 2024, London, United Kingdom Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 family of smartphones will be some of the most powerful smartphones to be released in 2025. And new details on the specifications suggest that this power will be available to everyone, no matter which S25 they buy. This has been a roller coaster few weeks for the community.
With the launch of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite and the news that Samsung was looking to use Qualcomm’s latest system-on-chip across the entire Galaxy S25 range, Galaxy fans were ready for a consistent level of performance across the portfolio. With previous Galaxy S ranges, Samsung had split the range in two, with some territories recieving a Snapdragon-equipped handset and others receiving the in-house Samsung Exynos chipset. The latter was seen as offering less performance and power .
With no option to choose the alternative chipset to the official offering, the Exynos was forced on consumers who prized more power and flexibility in their handset. What Has Changed For The Galaxy S25? Earlier this month, there were signs that Samsung was considering a split Snapdragon/Exynos line-up as the Exynos 250 chipset was spotted on Geekbench as part of a Galaxy S25+ benchmarking. As with previous iterations, the numbers for the Snapdragon chipset highlighted the advantages over Exynos.
This weekend, noted industry commentator and leaker IceUniverse has contributed once more to the debate , with a strongly worded note on the upcoming specifications; "I reiterate that all versions of the Galaxy S25 series in the world adopt Snapdragon 8 Elite, and will not adopt Exynos." Google’s Gmail Decision—Why You Need A New Email Address Gmail Alert—Leak Reveals New Email Addresses Coming For 2.5 Billion Users Trump’s Cabinet And Key Roles: Ex-Uber Exec Emil Michael Could Lead Transportation, Chris Wright Picked For Energy A Mysterious Galaxy S25 Design It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Samsung has been testing out the Exynos chipset for the next Galaxy S handsets, although at two months before a presumed launch, it is late in the day to still be in wo minds about the release.
Assuming IceUniverse’s confidence is not misplaced, this design could be based around the Galaxy S25+, but due for a later release. With discussions around a slimmer form factor of the Galaxy S25 to follow in the footsteps of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, we could be looking at a smartphone destined for that role rather than the mainstream role of the first S25 handsets. The push and pull of this debate will likely continue until mid-January when Samsung is expected to hold another edition of the Galaxy Unpacked events.
