More than 240,000 plastic tubs have been saved from landfill by Greene King's Tub2Pub recycling campaign. The annual initiative, now in its fifth year, invites people to drop off polypropylene sweet and cracker tubs at their nearby Greene King pub. These tubs, which are difficult to recycle in kerbside collections, are then turned into plastic granules.

The sale of these granules has raised £10,916.10 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year's collection, which ran from January to mid-February, was a new record for the scheme.

Teddy, 6, collected more than 2,500 plastic containers—earning his school a bench made from recycled tubs. (Image: Greene King) Vance Fairman-Smith, group supply chain director at Greene King, said: "The 2025 total of 27,990kg and 240,000 tubs exceeds all previous years' collections combined, a remarkable accomplishment. "These results show what can be achieved when businesses and communities work together.

" Georgia Harlow, sales and marketing manager at co-cre8, said: "We are truly overwhelmed by the incredible support from communities across the UK in this year’s Tub2Pub. "It’s such a fantastic example of the power of collective action in creating real environmental change." To date, Tub2Pub has diverted more than 470,000 tubs from landfills.
