New play puts mother and baby homes in spotlight: ‘It’s amazing seeing so many women telling this part of our history’

A new play written by a survivor of a mother and baby institution is at the centre of an innovative heritage project. Aoibh Johnson, one of the cast, speaks to the Belfast Telegraph about honouring women throughout Ireland Caitriona and Aoibh The Marian Hotel is based on the experiences of the writer, Caitriona Cunningham, who gave birth to her daughter in the Marianvale home in Newry. The production, by Derry-based theatre company Sole Purpose, will tour venues in Newry, Derry, Letterkenny, Strabane and Belfast.
