It was later reported that before his death, Perry was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy. After months of probing, five individuals were detained on August 15 for their connection to the incident, including Erik Fleming, Salvador Plasencia, Mark Chavez , his live-in aide Kenneth Iwamasa and Jasveen Sangha, also known as the The Ketamine Queen . Perry began seeking more ketamine than his doctor would prescribe and about a month before his death, he found Dr.

Salvador Plasencia, who allegedly asked Dr. Mark Chavez to procure the drug for him. After selling the drugs to Perry for $4,500, Plasencia allegedly proposed to Chavez that they continue supplying them to become Perry's "go-to," according to prosecutors.

Attorney Martin Estrada announced the charges, stating that "the doctors preyed on Perry's history of addiction in the final months of his life last year to provide him with ketamine in amounts they knew were dangerous." Chavez pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute ketamine in connection with Perry's death, marking him as the third individual to confess involvement.
