Logan, who this month was confirmed as one third of the new Match of the Day presenting team alongside Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates , made an unfortunate gaffe during Amazon Prime's Champions League coverage. Logan was hosting Liverpool 's clash against Lille, alongside pundits Fowler, Luis Garcia and Daniel Sturridge.

Mohamed Salah fired the Reds ahead with a well-taken goal in the first half, capitalising on a superb ball through from Curtis Jones, which led to analysis from the punditry team at the break. Just before cutting to an advert break, Logan accidentally said: ' Mo Farah is smelling blood.' Farah is a retired 41-year-old long distance runner who won four Olympic golds and six world titles during his successful career.

One fan, accompanying his post on X with a laughing emoji, said: 'Did Gabby Logan just say Mo Farah is smelling blood?' Another said Salah should perform Farah's trademark 'Mobot' celebration after scoring his next goal for Liverpool. 'Liverpool, didn't realise you had a new signing in Mo Farah hey Gabby Logan, Prime Video - but easily done whilst presenting live sport. Mo Salah, your next goal celebration needs to be the Mobot,' the fan posted.

A third said: 'Gabby Logan in full Olympics mode calling Salah 'Mo Farah' there.' Liverpool went on to triumph 2-1 over Lille in the second half thanks to Harvey Elliott's deflected shot from distance, putting the Reds within touching distance of topping the Champions League qualification phase. After the match, Liverpool legend Fowler could not resist poking fun at Logan for her error.

'It was a night for a couple of firsts,' Fowler said, directing his comment towards Logan. 'The first Liverpool player to 50 goals and first Liverpool player to become Mo Farah. He must've walked 10,000m easy.

Logan simply said in response: 'This Champions League new format is a marathon not a sprint. We're not normally here in January. 'When sporting worlds collide, apologies.

Sorry that Mo Farah is trending on X. Mo Salah, however, should be trending because he a phenomena.' After being confirmed as a new host on Match of the Day earlier this month, Logan said: 'There's an enormous responsibility to make sure we continue to evolve while at the same time respecting the traditions of Match of the Day.

'Everybody understands the history of the programme and the consistently huge audiences that watch it. 'It has more to offer as well – we know how strong the digital offering is, and Match of the Day is really relevant to that audience, too.'
