A seafront sauna is among four Seaford businesses with new licence holders. From April 1, the concessions began trading under new management after contracts were handed out by Seaford Town Council. The Nomadic Sauna and Skipper Water Sports, both on Seaford beach, have a new three-year license offering a mix of wellness, water sport hire, and refreshment services.
Carnival Ice Cream Supplies has taken over the previously vacant site on the promenade at the end of Dane Road. Cadence Cycle Club is also now trading under a new licence at South Hill Barn, Seaford Head. Seaford Town Council has asked the public to bear with sites as they set up operations and wished each business well.
A spokesperson for the council said: "Please bear with these businesses as they set up their operation over the coming days. "The Town Council wishes each of these businesses well with their endeavours and looks forward to working closely with them over the next three years." The Salts Café, at the Salts Recreation Ground, has also been appointed a new license and will reopen later this spring.
In March, previous owner Nicola Papanicolaou had slammed the reappointment feeling that she’d had the café “pulled from under her feet”. She claimed that they had been assured that discussions would be had regarding moving on to a monthly rolling contract when their current contract came to end. However, the council said the license had expired and therefore bids were made by interested parties.
It is expected that trading will begin with the new operators in May 2025. During the cafe's closure, public toilets are available at the Salts Recreation Ground and other concessions are available on the seafront or in the town. Seaford Town Council have said that the newly appointed sites will be readvertised when concession licenses expire.
A spokesperson for the council: “In accordance with usual practice for a concession licence arrangement, at the end of these newly awarded concession licences (31st March 2028) the Town Council plans to readvertise the concession site opportunities and launch a full and transparent tender process once more. “The Town Council owns several other concession sites in addition to those listed above, with the next round of concession opportunities currently due to be advertised in January 2026.”.
