A new indoor golfing academy for all skill levels will soon be coming to Richmond. Precision Golf Academy will be hosting its grand opening on Nov. 10 at 1 p.
m. The event will take place at their new Richmond location on 165 12128 Horseshoe Way. The academy will feature two bays with Trackman and GC Quad simulators.
The sensors and cameras in these devices will allow golfers to track and improve their performance, letting them analyze information such as their swing speed or the ball’s travel distance. In addition to one-on-one coaching and lesson packages, Precision Golf will also offer hourly rentals, allowing guests to hit as many balls as they can in one of their virtual golf courses. The facility will also house a five-hole putting green and will offer putting lessons, according to head coach and partner Diego San Pedro.
“That's about two enclosures that go about 10 feet in depth, but the rest of the facility, maybe another 20-30 feet, that's all putting green,” he said. Partner Derrick Ng said Precision Golf Academy’s mission is to create a space where golfers of all skill levels can improve with the use of technology and personalized coaching. San Pedro, who was once one of B.
C.'s top golfers, invited beginners and pros to give the academy a try. “We are open to giving instruction to any level, whether it's your first time picking up a club or whether you want to take your game to the next level,” said San Pedro.
Spreading the sport and encouraging the young crowd or beginners in their 40’s or 50’s to pick up the sport is also one of the academy’s missions, he added. San Pedro said that what sets them apart from other golfing academies is their young and fresh mindset on the game, as well as the comfort of staying indoors if the weather isn’t great outside. The first 10 people to walk through the academy’s door on Nov.
10 will be rewarded with a brief complementary introduction lesson. There will also be a variety of prizes for long-drive, putting and chipping competitions. “That whole time I’ll be there, whether they (attendees) have questions about what we offer, but also who we are and what we’re bringing to the golf community,” he said.
“It’s going to be a really fun and exciting day.” San Pedro said golf has always been his passion. Golfing since the age of four, he participated in various tournaments until he was 19, and sees the new academy as a way to rejoin the industry and start a new chapter.
“In this case, it'll be through instruction to start, and then hopefully, in the future, get back on the course and start competing,” said San Pedro. “We're all passionate about the game, and this is our way of giving back to our fellow golfers and also chase our dreams.” For more information, visit Precision Golf Academy’s website .
