Dorset Coast Radio will serve the county's "vibrant and diverse" communities with a "fresh and dynamic" range of programmes. It will go on air and online this week. The station will air local voices, music, news and stories and will provide entertainment, news and useful information.
It also plans to showcase the work of community groups. Station manager Andy Marlor said: "We have worked hard to develop a different approach to local radio. "We put the listener at the heart of what we do.
"This means we not only play great music but make sure that we share useful and helpful information about community events and services to make it really local and relevant. "We’re also inviting local community groups to get involved and share information about what they do and how they help local people. "We have a dedicated show each weeknight from 7pm to showcase the best of our community across Dorset.
" The station will air news and events, music from the 70s to today and talk shows with updates from people and organisations. People who listen from Good Friday will have the chance to win a DAB radio..
