The New Century Club invites the public to attend the next Book Breakfast review and discussion Thursday on “How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen,” a New York Times bestseller by David Brooks. Brooks examines the influence of social media and AI on interpersonal communication, and he finds an “epidemic of blindness” to one another. His solution is a practical and heartfelt guide to the art of truly knowing another person to foster deeper connections at home, at work and throughout our lives.

Brooks offers a blueprint for a more connected and humane way of life. The Rev. Mike Duffalo will be the reviewer.



Mike has a Bachelor of Arts degree from IUP and a Master of Divinity from Methodist Theological School of Ohio. He has 60 years of experience in Pastoral Ministry and Counseling, and was the executive director of Indiana County Municipal Services Authority for many years. Familiarity with the book is not required to attend and enjoy the review.

Author David Brooks is a renowned journalist with the New York Times. He has published in The Atlantic, and appears on the PBS NewsHour. His other bestsellers include “The Road to Character,” “The Second Mile” and “The Social Animal.

” The Book Breakfast will take place at 10 a.m. at the Bristol Court Dining Room at St.

Andrew’s Village. Breakfast beverages and pastry will be served. A donation to the breakfast of $5 will be collected at the door.
