A new business will be moving into the former Dockerills site in Brighton. The well-known and long-standing hardware shop, Dockerills, which closed its doors in September 2024, will become home to the Kellie Miller Arts (KMA) Gallery. The gallery, which is moving from its current location on Market Street, will open at 3 Church Street in April 2025.

The move will see the gallery double in size and extend its collection of original and unique artworks. The KMA gallery represents and works with more than 100 artists, and has been operating in the city for 11 years. It offers a range of paintings, ceramics, sculptures and more from local, national and international artists.

The gallery is run by artist and curator Kellie Miller, who has more than 30 years' experience in the industry. She is described as a "celebrated ceramicist, sculptor and painter" and works to "demystify the art buying experience for both artists and clients alike.

" The space will also offer more event and collaboration opportunities within the local community. The building was previously occupied by Dockerills, a traditional family-run hardware shop that had been operating in the city since 1915. The shop closed in September last year, with former MP Caroline Lucas noting "Dockerills is part of the fabric of the city.
